The challenge of the unknown
course, when you publish a novel and you're nobody, when you turn the first to find friends, people who know you and maybe - in some cases - you buy it just so you do not regret. And it is obvious that this has happened to me too. I do not deny, however, that too many comments of friends were clearly more positive than it could provide a simple courtesy.
But there are two cases that I would mention, and are linked to two people completely unknown to me, outside of my world that do not even know my existence until you have read my novel.
The first is a messenger of DHL, bringing its deliveries to the reception of the place where I work, saw my book on the counter and wanted to buy.
few days later, again for his usual delivery route, said her colleague left the reception to let me know that the novel had read it once and it was very impressed and really liked it. The other
is that of a lady who was the gift packages for the Red Cross in one of the many shopping centers in the Veneto during the days pre-Christmas. A good friend of mine had gone there to be packing some copies of my book as a gift and she, curiously, had wanted a copy. My friend had they sold (I had other by ...) leaving the number because, in the case, called her to tell her if she liked it. But are those things that please you more than anything else. But after a few days the nurse called him to tell him that she liked the novel very much and would have probably got copies too.
In short, this lady, unknown to me but to my friend, has taken the trouble to call him to tell her. On purpose, you know?
These are the two most beautiful episodes of this period so full of satisfaction.
enter into life with strangers in your own words and be told that in some way have touched them. What more could you want from a first novel? Thanks to these strangers who now are my friends.
